5 Reasons Why Parents Should Love Audio Books
Quick pop quiz! How can you accomplish the following things with the push
of a button:
Help your kids improve their reading skills?
Grow their vocabulary?
Help them sit quietly (willingly!)? and
Entertain them too?
Easy- Play audiobooks!
That's right Mom and Dad, listening to books on tape provide all these benefits and more.
Did you know that for a significant part of their childhood, your kids' intelluctual capacity will be greater than their reading ability? That means that they can understand material when it is read aloud to them that they would not be able to read. Interesting isn't it?
My kids love audiobooks and I love that they love them. As a homeschooling Mom of 4 kids, I do a lot of reading aloud. Audiobooks give my voice a little break.
You can play books on tape when you're in the car running errands. Naptime and bedtime are also favorite times to listen to a story. (And if your kids are like mine, you wear out long before they do so books on tape are a lifesaver for helping them nod off after you've done the bedtime story!)
Listening to audio books strengthens your child's ability to listen, a skill very crucial for their academic achievement. Audio books also let your child hear fluent reading with a bit of flair... a lot of them are read by the author or professional actors.
If your child is struggling with reading, audio books associate reading with pleasure... so important if your child is to develop a lifelong love of reading!
Audio books help your child learn to visualize a story by using their imagination instead of the pictures (in contrast, watching television trains the brain to be lazy and rely on images).
Why not get your child on the fast track to reading success with the push of the play button too? To get you started, here are some of my kids' favorite titles:
Charlotte's Web (read by the Author, E.B. White)
The Jamie Lee Curtis collection (And I dare you to get through "Tell me about the night I was born" without crying!)
A New Coat for Anna
The Maurice Sendak collection
The B.F.G. by Roald Dahl
Have fun listening together!

Today's jvc ux g70 ArticleHow To Make A Cheap Guitar Sound Great
Most beginning guitar players start with a rather inexpensive instrument. They usually have a mass production clone of a Fender Stratocaster or a Gibson Les Paul. The most popular clones are made overseas by Gibson and Fender themselves through the Epiphone and Squier lines. These are built to the same specs as the American made models. They are decent instruments in their own right but they can be improved greatly with just a pickup replacement. As long as the neck is straight and the tuning pegs are fairly tight, this is often all you need to upgrade to a pro sound.
Iv'e modified several Mexican made Stratocasters and I'll take you through the process. The first thing you want to decide on is what kind of sound you're looking for. Replacement pickups are available with a lot of variety in sound output. I like to use Seymour Duncan pickups because they have proven to be of high quality and reliability. They also have a good selection and have a CD of sound samples you can listen to. Most dealers have the CD's and you can also listen to the samples online. Choose your replacement pickups and you're ready to upgrade.
You'll need several things for the job. A good stable workbench or table, with plenty of room to lay your tools out, makes things much easier. Here's a list of what you need:
1.screwdriver set, both flat head and philips
2.soldering iron
3.solder
4.new set of strings
5.wire cutters/strippers
The first thing you need to do is remove your guitar strings. I usually leave the low E-string on to keep a little tension on the neck. Next remove the pickguard cover. Make sure you save all the screws in a cup as they are small and get lost easily. After you remove the screws you should be able to lift up on it and slide it off under the E-string. You should now see your three pickups and the wiring thats attached to them.
The new pickups come with a wiring diagram that is color coded but take a good look at each pickup before you replace it in case something isn't quite right with the color code. It's important that you replace one pickup at a time so as not to mix up the bridge, middle and neck pickups.
Heat up your soldering iron. Remove the first pickup. I usually start with the neck pickup. Cut and strip the wires according to the instructions and solder the wires to the new ones. Repeat the process for the other two. Not too bad, huh?
When you replace the cover/pickguard, be careful not to overtighten the screws or they might get stripped. Now would be a good time to clean the guitar before you put the new strings on.
Replace and tune the strings and plug in. You'll be pleased with the results. I have several of these upgraded strats for the price of one expensive one and more versatilty with different pickup sounds. You can do the same thing with an Epiphone Les Paul to produce a sound that rivals the Gibson for about a third of the price. Now you can spend more money on all the cool effects gadgets. Have fun and keep practicing.

A Featured samsung scd365 ArticleTestimonials in Direct Mail Advertising Sales Letters Must Sound Groovy - Dude
If you want to improve your sales letters, read movie
reviews. One of the most common criticisms brought
against new movies is that the characters are wooden
and one-dimensional. Their actions are predictable.
Their speech is predictable.
Remember this when you decide to include a
testimonial in your direct mail advertising letter.
Putting a testimonial in your sales letter will only help
your case and persuade prospects to respond if the
testimonial sounds authentic.
So listen hard when you're listening for good
testimonials. Listen for the phrase that is
ungrammatical, the thought expressed in the
vernacular. Listen for the observations from satisfied
customers that sound real.
Then quote those testimonials verbatim, keeping the
grammatical mistakes if possible. Your testimonials
need to have an authentic sound to them, a sound that
you cannot reproduce with your own pen. So let your
customers speak for you by letting them speak for
themselves. You'll sound more convincing precisely
because they do.
Here's an example of what I mean. One of my clients,
who makes commercial earth moving equipment,
wanted to persuade owners of competing graders to
take a test drive in my client's grader. The problem is,
many prospective customers own Caterpillar graders
and have a loyalty to the Caterpillar brand that borders
on religious fanaticism.
My client wanted to persuade these tough prospects
that blade hands who operate my client's grader are
more comfortable and productive than those who
operate competing machines.
Problem was, my client couldn't exactly say that in
their own words. They would sound like they
were boasting. Besides, they are biased, right?
I decided to make this proposition by way of a
testimonial. I searched the company's sales literature
and dealer newsletters, and found a pearl that came
out of the mouth of a blade hand who works for an
earth moving company in Frisco, Texas. I quoted him
by quoting how his company president quoted him:
"All of our guys were Cat hands, but after we put a 772
into the hands one of our number-one blade hands,
when he started running that blade, about a week later
he said, 'Don't go bringing that Caterpillar
back.'"
I couldn't have said that any better if I'd tried. So I
didn't.

Audio Books: From Books on Tape to Downloadable Audio Books
In the early sixties, someone thought, "Hey, wouldn?t it be great if we could listen to books instead of reading them?" and audio books were born. Audio books gained popularity shortly after in America as "books on tape" and then as technologies advanced, audio books came out as "books on CD." The biggest lure was the fact that people could enjoy books in places other than the easy chair. Books suddenly became group activities, and whole families could enjoy a good book together while out for a Sunday drive.
With recent technological advances, audio books are once again evolving. The Internet has brought about a whole new generation of downloadable digital audio books that you can listen to on your computer, mp3 player or CD player. The major advantage is still the same as it was in the sixties -- convenience, with the only difference being the extent of the convenience.
Nowadays, you don't have to go all the way to the book store or grocery store to find an audio book. You can shop, download, burn, copy and transfer audio books right in the comfort of your home. In addition, you can listen to downloadable audio books on a variety of media devices. Before the advent of downloadable audio books, you could only listen to the original books on tape on tape decks. You can find audio books in downloadable mp3 format. And just about anything, including recordings of radio shows in the 1920s to the 1950s as well as plays (something that at one time could only be enjoyed as part of an audience in a theater) can now be enjoyed in downloadable format.
The popularity of audio books in modern society is apparent in the fact that audio books can now be found in just about every single public library in North America, and an ever increasing amount of libraries are offering their patrons downloadable audio books. The system works the same as borrowing a regular old fashioned book where a member downloads the audio book and after a period of time, the file becomes inactive. This is controlled by a DRM (Digital Rights Management) program, which automatically checks files in and out. Once downloaded to your computer, the files can then be transferred to your mp3 player or burned onto a CD. On the "due date," the DRM automatically checks the file back into the system. At this time, the audio book can no longer be played on your computer or portable media device. It can, however, still be played from a burned CD.
If you have a computer and Internet access, you no longer have any excuse for not enjoying a good book every once in a while.
Margret Lilin is the webmaster at AudioBookFanClub.com, an online mega store that provides a wide selection of discounted audio books in various categories. The site constantly gives away surprise gifts and bonuses to subscribers and customers. To search for bargain MP3 players please visit our sister site IncomePlaza.com

The site constantly gives away surprise gifts and bonuses to subscribers and customers. To search for bargain MP3 players please visit our sister site IncomePlaza.com

Another Great lc 37d40u ArticleSight, Sound, Touch, The Key To Success
2002 by Lena Sanchez
What words do you use to talk to yourself or others? Yes, talking to yourself! The trick in business as well as personal social situations is learning to speak to others and get them to truly listen means the difference in you having the ability to truly hear what is being said to or by you. If you aren't really hearing what someone actually says even though you think you're listening, results in no real communication!
When you communicate with someone and need his/her undivided attention you will need to speak the same language. In order to assure they are more receptive to you then you need the ability to reach their subconscious level. Mirroring is a form used by those who are very successful at relationships, sales, marketing or negotiating.
Human creatures communicate on a subconscious level without even realizing it. The art of mirroring is a language, when used effectively, can gain you a lot of allies. If not used can mean being left behind, or at best, not the most effective.
The technique of speaking to people in their own language is explained through the technology of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) or mirroring. It helps to quickly and effectively develop rapport with another person. It has positive benefits in the area of self-improvement as well, but today I am going to focus on rapport building to successful marketing or just plain language skills to successful business and personal relationships.
The language of mirroring or Neuro Linguistic Programming as it was named in the '70's is the ideal way of getting into the same language pattern in order to know you are on the same wave length. Matching words, expressions, voice tone, even volume, in order to speak in the other person's language. This not only proves you've been listening, but also the best way to introduce your own ideas without opposition or disagreement.
In mirroring or NLP we learn that we process information in three distinct ways; primary being (1) Auditory, the art of hearing or sound. (2) Visual, sight or seeing, (3) Kinesthetic, touch or feeling. Often, the words we use show our primary method of processing information.
For instance, when a person uses the expression "I see" that tells you this is a visual person. Responding to that person you would need to answer on a feeling level, such as, "it looks good to me also." If someone says, "sounds good to me or I hear you," indicates an auditory person lives in that body. One that comes in with "Feels okay to me or I felt that," indicates a kinesthetic person, one who feels things.
I must say here, that these responses might possible only indicate that moment of being of that person or the permanent personality of that person. Most of us tend to be a "moment to moment person, but the majority of the time we will appear to use the same pattern as we usually do and reflect who we are to the person we are speaking with. On either sight, feeling or touching plain. (Auditory, visual or Kinesthetic). But the necessity of communicating in the moment of that person's reality will reflect the art of your skills in communication!
Mirroring or NLP, involves duplicating a persons body movements, visual or auditory speech as often as possible, realistically, and without being too obvious or fake about it. If the person is conscious of your mirroring the whole purpose will be defeated. This is not a game but proven to actually work to understanding what is truly being said to you.
For instance, as the person you're with begins to rest his or her hand on his or her chin-or cross his or her legs, or fold his or her arms-wait for a moment, and then slowly do the same. It takes practice to notice and mirror others effectively. Find an associate and practice, practice until this becomes a natural habit. If this cannot subtly be done the rapport will be lost as well as your credibility!
Matching and mirroring are totally natural processes when two people already have good rapport (watch friends, or happy couples in conversation. Physically, they will often be almost totally in sync). You're simply speeding up the time it usually takes to make a person feel comfortable. Rapport can be created both on the conscious open level - finding similarities such as same birthplace, interests, etc. - and then below the conscious level by way of matching and mirroring the body movements of said person.
Reasons mirroring works so well is; A) Transforms weakness into power: Don't fight for honor's sake, it will cause you to lose in the end. Mirroring serves to deprive your foe of the satisfaction of defeating you without them knowing it happened.
B) Giving in conceals power. It makes your foe complacent and gives you time to recoup and work on ways to undermine or rearrange his/her thinking. Not in a bad way but a positive effect for both parties! Setting up a win win situation.
People who are so into showing their power and care about showing authority are easily undermined and defeated by the giving-in tactic. Outward submission makes them feel important, making them easier targets later for counterattack. Again this is not a bad thing but makes bargaining or selling a positive.
Don't sacrifice long-term maneuverability for short-lived martyrdom. If you stay firm inside but end up on the outside, you will confuse your adversary therefore losing your battle.
Example:
In ancient China, King Gou Jian lost a major battle to the ruler of Wu. Instead of fleeing, he surrendered, gave his conqueror his riches and went to work for him as a stable hand for three years. Finally, Gou Jian was freed. He raised an army and, using the knowledge he had gained about his opponent, attacked and defeated him. Story borrowed from http://www.BottomLinePersonal.com
Serves to both disarm and may infuriate, if discovered, when using the mirroring effect. Acting like someone else-whether it is a boss, peer or opponent-is what I call the mirroring effect. Works like a desert chameleon, which assume the colors of its environment so no one can touch it.
MIRRORING OTHERS will give them the feeling that you share their thoughts and goals. Everyone is consumed by his own ego. Try to impose your own ego and you meet resistance. But holding up a mirror make others see what they want to see. Therefore feed the fantasies of others by finding out what they like and making those tastes your own.
Secret of mirroring your employer - is to put books by some of your boss's favorite writers on your bookshelf. Very Effective rapport builder.
Don't lecture people about their failings or products-they won't listen. Mirroring their behavior will serve to cause them to either ignore you or think about their own actions either way you will know where you stand.
NEVER APPEAR PERFECT! Looking better than others is dangerous. People will become envious and look for ways to trip you up. When others envy you they will work against you. If your attitude is "I am always right" you will lose in the end!
WEED OUT envy before it takes root. Appear unambitious to your colleagues. Make power seem like at least something of a burden and sacrifice-something imposed upon you. The appearance of self-sacrifice turns envy to pity. People will feel bad for imposing on you instead of resenting you for what you have. Most truly successful wealthy people I have met carry this attitude!
This should not be used in a manner that others view you as a fake but as genuinely interested in them and will work with both sexes. The secret to making friends and associates will center in mirroring.
Just remember this one thing - fake will only lose the advantage for you and possibly make it impossible to repair the damage. So practice until it is a natural part of your listening skills. All you have to do is remember that practice makes perfect!
THE ADDED FORTH DIMENSION OF ONLINE MIRRORING: I have chosen to add one more dimension to Mirroring, my own practice of mirroring online That is to put your personality into your website. This will help people to see who you truly are and will result in you having a better life by gaining your potential customer/client's respect!
Take charge of mirroring yourself and succeed.

How to Choose a Car Audio Head Unit
There are so many different head units available these days that making an informed decision on which one to buy is a long process. I happen to know that about 99% of people have the same goals:
1. Get a unit with all of the best features.
2. Save money on that unit.
You're in luck, because that's what this guide is all about!
A quick note about HYPE:
There are lots of retailers and parties on the internet that would like you to believe certain things about car audio. What is boils down to is that these people really just want to sell you something, and take some of your $$$ with them. When deciding on stereo equipment, it's best to rely on the advice of neutral parties rather than retailers and marketers. Don't fall into the trap of information pollution!
OK, then.
When you buy a head unit, basically you are looking for a control system for your entire stereo. You should be sure that whatever unit you buy can handle all of the tasks you want your unit to handle. Some things to think about:
Do I want a CD changer?
Do I want to connect my iPod (or other MP3 device)?
Do I want to use satellite radio?
Do I want any sort of mobile video?
Do I need any EQ/DSP/Time correction features?
Do I want to focus on Sound Quality or SPL?
Do I want to be able to play MP3 or other digital music files?
Do I want to connect amplifiers? If so, how many?
How much of a stereo system am I going to build around this head unit?
There are probably other things that you would want to think about as well, but these are just a few ideas to get your head going.
Once you have decided on all of this stuff, you can start narrowing down your head unit list. The next thing you'll want to do is look at all of the specifications, and see what unit is the best choice. If you want to examine a list of head unit specifications, check out my article called Head Unit Specifications, and How They Affect You.
A quick note about specifications: Some people get really obsessed with finding a unit that somehow magically has the best specifications. What I mean is that people look for units that not only have the highest s/n ratio, but also the lowest THD, the most features, the highest bit DAC, etc. etc. NOW! I will say that most units from the top manufacturers are good enough to form the basis of a high-end stereo system. The truth is that many of these specifications are measured by a computer, and humans can't really perceive the differences between .03% and .05% THD. So, don't worry about it! If you find a unit that has all of the features you NEED, and has acceptable performance, just buy it! Like many people have said before me: "Don't sweat the small stuff". Compromising on one little specification is not going to make your music sound bad.
So, you're probably pretty close to making a great decision on the best head unit for your vehicle. Now, you need to examine a few more things:
Budget - How much can you spend?
Build quality - How well made is the unit?
Warranty - Does the unit come with a good warranty?
Obviously, some of these considerations will mean more to some people than others. That's OK! This is your head unit, and ultimately, the goal is to get the best unit that suits all of your needs.
